The Belgian Nuclear Forum, the sectoral federation of the nuclear industry in Belgium, invites you to its Nuclear Supply Chain Event 2026, bringing together companies and industry experts to exchange insights, explore business opportunities and build connections.
Belgium’s nuclear revival calls for action: building a strong supply chain takes time, and companies need to prepare now for opportunities at home and abroad in the (near) future. Through this event, the Belgian Nuclear Forum aims to help companies learn from international experience, understand industry requirements and strengthen their readiness to compete for future nuclear projects.
What to expect
- International perspectives: speakers sharing nuclear supply chain best practices and lessons learned in other countries.
- A focus on Belgium: insights into domestic nuclear developments and the opportunities they create for the Belgian supply chain.
- A unique look inside Laborelec: visit its different laboratories to discover its technical expertise and activities.
- Time to connect: dedicated networking opportunities with fellow participants, speakers and potential business partners.
Speakers
We are currently putting together the programme. We will add more details in the programme after confirmation.
Already confirmed speakers:
- Mathieu Bihet, Federal Minister of Energy
- Arturo Suarez, Senior Engineer at Tractebel, will talk about “Newcomer entry channels to the Nuclear Supply Chain”
- Vincent Schryvers, Deputy Institute Director, Innovative Nuclear Systems at SCK CEN, will discuss the opportunities for the local supply chain within the upcoming LEANDREA project.
- Philippe Stegen, Sustainable Energy Program Manager at Pôle MecaTech, will give a sneak preview of the Belgian supply chain analysis he's working on, as part of a national project.

Visit the laboratories of Laborelec
During this event, Laborelec is offering a unique opportunity to visit its laboratories.
When registering, you will be asked to select 3 Lab tours of your choice, in order of your preference. We'll do our best to provide everyone with their first choices, but the ‘first come, first served’ principle applies when tours are full. In advance, we thank you for your understanding.
Here are the 4 proposed Lab tours:
Lab tour 1
"From Materials to Qualification: Demonstrating Nuclear Equipment Reliability at Laborelec"
During this visit, participants will explore our Materials Laboratory, where ageing, degradation, and performance of materials are assessed, and our Seismic Qualification Laboratory, featuring a unique triaxial shaking table used to demonstrate equipment robustness under earthquake conditions.
The tour will also include thermal ageing furnace facilities, Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Laboratory, where electrical and electronic equipment is tested and qualified for operation in demanding nuclear environments.
Lab tour 2
"Materials ageing and reactive coolant testing: Enabling long term operation and SMR development
During this visit, participants will explore our Materials Laboratory, where ageing, degradation, and performance of materials are assessed.
The tour also includes the Molten Salt and Liquid Metal material testing platform, which enables the safe handling, preparation and analysis of samples under controlled conditions.
Finally, visitors will discover our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Laboratory, where advanced inspection techniques are used to detect degradation, defects and structural anomalies without damaging the asset being inspected.
Lab tour 3
"Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Ensuring Reliable Performance in Critical Environments"
During the visit, participants will explore ENGIE Laborelec's EMC laboratory and discover how its testing facilities contribute to the reliability and safety of critical installations. They will learn how electrical and electronic systems are assessed against international EMC standards to support equipment qualification for demanding industrial and nuclear applications.
The tour will showcase advanced capabilities for evaluating electromagnetic phenomena both in the laboratory and in real operating environments. Measurement systems will be presented, illustrating how electromagnetic field levels can be assessed on site for both human exposure evaluations and installation EMC compliance assessments. EMC compliance is crucial in environments mixing different technologies, such as legacy equipment operating in the presence of modern wireless communication networks, like 5G deployment.
Lab tour 4
Megawatt test bench
During this visit, you will discover ENGIE Laborelec’s MW-scale test bench, a unique facility used for hardware-in-the-loop testing of power inverters, fast-charging stations and hybrid energy systems.
The test bench enables manufacturers and asset owners to de-risk new technologies before field deployment, validate their performance under realistic operating conditions, and replicate issues encountered in the field to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
You will have the opportunity to see a megawatt MCS charger and a PV inverter currently installed at the MW-scale test bench
